Netflix America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders captivated viewers around the world, and fans quickly became drawn into the complicated lives of the incredibly dedicated NFL cheerleaders.
The seven-part documentary series follows the challenging world of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders as they undergo rigorous tryouts and intense training to earn a coveted spot on the team for the 2023 season. The series not only highlights the technical skills and physical endurance required, but also delves into the personal lives and struggles of the cheerleaders.
From newcomers looking to impress director Kelli Finglass to veterans looking to maintain their position, the docuseries presents a raw and emotional portrait of their journey.
As the series progresses, viewers are immersed in the intimate details of cheerleading lives—both professionally and personally. The show explores body image, mental health, and the pressures of maintaining a perfect appearance as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, all while balancing relationships, second jobs, and personal aspirations.
Since its June 2024 premiere, many of the cheerleaders have embarked on new adventures, both inside and outside of DCC. From marriages and new career paths to moves and future projects, here’s where the stars America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are now.
Victoria Kalina
Victoria Kalina’s story moved fans when she opened up about her struggles with body image and eating disorders, as well as her disappointment at not being tapped for a leadership position in her fourth year on the team. Despite initial plans to return for a fifth season, Kalina announced during a YouTube Q&A in June 2024 that she had decided to leave DCC and move to New York City.
“I always knew that after rooting for the Cowboys, I wanted to continue my dance journey in New York,” Kalina said in the video, adding that she was training for the Radio City Rockette auditions.
“I know it’s a very competitive and rigorous audition process,” she said. “I’ll put in the work, but I’ll also be open to any opportunities that come my way.”
Reece Weaver
Rookie Reece Weaver became a fan favorite after making the team as a rookie for the 2023 season. In April 2024, Weaver married her college sweetheart, Will Allman, who also appeared on the show. The couple wed at The Barn At Cottonwood Ranch in Callahan, Florida, surrounded by family and friends, including many of her DCC co-workers.
Since getting married, Weaver has continued her journey with DCC. She auditioned for the team again in June 2024 and is currently in training camp ahead of the 2024 season, according to the team’s official Instagram.
Kelcey Wetterberg
Kelcey Wetterberg, who is portrayed on the show as a five-year veteran, has become a major part of the show as she has announced that this will be her last season as a DCC. During the show, Wetterberg worked as a full-time pediatric nurse and continues to do so to this day. The retired DCC nurse and medical professional is now planning her wedding to fiancé Nate Crnkovich, whose proposal was shown on the show.
In June, Wetterberg posted on Instagram that she “found (her) dream dress” at a Dallas bridal shop.
Anna Kate Sundvold
Anna Kate Sundvold also made the team as a rookie in 2023. Much of her storyline centered on her relationship with her sister Caroline, a DCC veteran who was recovering from injuries suffered while playing for the team.
In addition to her cheerleading duties, Anna Kate graduated from Texas Christian University in May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In October 2023, she began working as a financial advisor in Dallas, according to her LinkedIn profile. Her boyfriend, Michael Snyder, graduated with his master’s degree from TCU in May, and Anna Kate congratulated him on Instagram with the caption, “He’s got it.”
After her rookie season, Anna Kate also tried out for the team again in June 2024 and is currently in training camp.
Karolina Sundvold
When fans first met Caroline Sundvold on the show, she had recently retired from the team and was recovering from injuries she sustained on the team. However, she continued to work closely with the team and supported her younger sister, Anna Kate, in the process.
In February 2024, Caroline started working as an account manager for medical device manufacturer Stryker in Dallas, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Kat Puryear
Kat Puryear gained notoriety for her candid remarks on the show about cheerleading pay, comparing it to that of a “substitute teacher” or a “full-time Chick-fil-A employee.”
After the show aired, Puryear posted a TikTok in June 2024 further elaborating on her salary and pay as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Her transparency sparked important conversations about pay in the sport.
After retiring from DCC in 2023, Puryear remains involved with the organization as an alumni and regularly attends team events.
Camille Sturdivant
Camille Sturdivant joined the team during the show and was honored with the Rookie of the Year award, for which she expressed her gratitude in a March 2024 Instagram post.
“I am so grateful to the women of @dccheerleaders and every single person who has poured their heart into me this season to become a better artist, professional, and person,” she wrote. “To be selected as the Rookie of the Year recipient is truly an honor beyond anything I could have imagined.”
Sturdivant is currently in training camp and is fighting for a spot on the 2024 squad.
Kelly Villares
Kelly Villares’ deep passion for dance, which she demonstrated from a young age, moved fans, especially since her parents (now divorced) revealed that they remained married throughout her formative years, in part so they could afford lessons with her.
Ultimately, however, Villares was kicked off the team in the third episode of the series, largely due to her lack of experience in DDC choreography — despite having over 20 years of experience in other areas of dance. Still, Villares’ determination endures, and the New Jersey native is one of the 2024 DCC rookies in training camp.
Charly Barby
Charly Barby’s journey was marked by disappointment after being kicked out of training camp in the final phase. In July 2023, Barby posted an emotional Instagram Reel where she summed up her experience, writing, “If you had told me at the beginning of this year that I would reach the final phase in training camp, I would have never believed you.”
Barby added that it was “the experience of a lifetime” and “see you next year ;)”.
Like several of her fellow rookies from last season, Barby is currently in training camp for the 2024 squad.
Anisha Kurukulsuriya
Though Anisha Kurukulasuriya wowed the judges with her Bollywood-inspired solo performance and made it to the training camp, she was ultimately kicked out and did not show up for the 2024 auditions.
Kurukulasuriya is an ambassador for the National Desi Dance League and splits her time between Los Angeles and Dallas, where she teaches dance classes and workshops under the name “BollyFusion.”
Ari McClure
Ari McClure ultimately didn’t make the DCC after Charlotte Jones expressed concerns that she might be too short. However, McClure did make the team as a Miami Dolphins cheerleader, she announced in a June 2024 Instagram post.
“If I’ve learned anything, it’s that everything happens for a reason and I can’t wait to announce that I’m officially an NFL CHEERLEADERS @dolphinscheer,” the dancer wrote.
Madeline Salter
Madeline Salter was a third-year veteran during the show’s run. Her journey became especially emotional when the dancer and her mother, a DCC alum, spoke about her father’s mental health struggles and untimely death — which occurred during Salter’s 2022 season as DCC. Despite her grief, Salter continued to dance, often noting the support and love she felt as a member of the company.
“Being part of a sisterhood, being part of a family, it’s something incredibly powerful,” she said in the docuseries.
Salter is currently in training camp for the 2024 team and is preparing for a fourth year with the team if she makes it through camp.
Zofia Laufer
In the series, Sophy Laufer returns for a second year as DCC, but she did not appear until the series finale. After Laufer was inappropriately grabbed by a photographer on the field during the 2023 Thanksgiving Day game, she wanted to press charges and spoke to police, but there was not enough evidence to proceed. Still, her courage and sensitivity inspired fans.
Laufer remains committed to the team and is currently in training camp ahead of the 2024 season.
