  2. #2 Colleges with the Best Academics in VermontUniversity of VermontBurlington, VT·4 Year·Rating 3.61 out of 5 2,004 reviewsFreshman: I absolutely love the decision I made to attend the University of Vermont. The culture and campus environment were exactly what I was looking for in my college choice. The campus is absolutely beautiful with plenty of green areas to hang out or study on. It does get extremely cold and snowy in the winter, but that also means you can check out one of the six local ski resorts with shuttles running daily to each one from campus. I joined the ski and snowboarding club and cant wait to hit the slopes in a few months. The class sizes are perfect for me and the professors are friendly and easily accessible. My only complaint is there's no football team to watch on fall Saturdays. But hockey and both men's and women's basketball are fun to cheer on. They have great programs in those sports. Overall, I would say the University of Vermont is an excellent choice for your college choice!... 3. #3 Colleges with the Best Academics in VermontBennington CollegeBennington, VT·4 Year·Rating 3.52 out of 5 236 reviewsSophomore: I do like the school, the student body is super friendly and I find it easy to feel comfortable on campus. However, the campus comes with a lot of small college-related issues. The housing system is a mess, students can be clicky so it's easy to feel alienated on campus, house chairs often have issues controlling house issues, the dining hall doesn't listen to what the students want and food is often under or overcooked, and don't even get me started on the admin... With all that being said, the campus is gorgeous, there's so much diversity including international, queer, and disabled students, and the professors are truly some of the most unique passionate people I've ever met, and even just after my first year at Bennington I've learned so much about myself, my academic goals, and I've made a plethora of new lasting memories. The college is something, quite a unique experience that isn't for everyone, but I plan on staying and enjoying the coming 3 years.... Professors here are genuinely interested in your success and are eager to create close bonds with you. The small and tight-knit community provides the perfect setting for you to make close friends and become acquainted with so many people on campus. It's nice to never worry about housing as a fully residential school, and the accommodations are impressive for such a small area. The dining hall is not the best, but it's part of the college experience. 11. Vermont State University CastletonCastleton, VT·4 Year·Rating 3.4 out of 5 526 reviewsFreshman: I love the people here always very friendly and welcoming, the diversity is usually very nice we have a lot of out of state and out of country students at this time. And the clubs are more than overflowing. Plenty of different clubs and activities for us go getters. But the food here is definitely lacking to be kind, cardboard pizza that rivals that of modern day Little Caesar's. Some of the housing is really nice, but other houses have silverfish or heating issues, rules aren't as reinforced, and safety is usually on top of thing except for last year when we had an incident.Sounds horrible, is horrible, but not on the school. The teachers are always kind and helpful, most all teachers have fair curriculum a few teachers I've found actually don't; sometimes it's better to not do any homework than to get a bad grade. Otherwise my current nursing program is exciting and engaging; I regularly participate in the gardening club and a few others as well.... 12. Community College of VermontMontpelier, VT·2 Year·Rating 3.82 out of 5 242 reviewsJunior: I really enjoyed my time at CCV. The staff and teachers were very supportive and always willing to help. The diverse community made it easy to connect with people from different backgrounds. I also appreciated the flexibility in course offerings, which allowed me to explore my interest in design and media studies. The practical projects and access to resources like software and equipment were really helpful for my studies. While I had a great experience overall, I think CCV could improve by offering more extracurricular activities and clubs, especially those related to specific fields like design. This would help students get more involved and gain more experience outside the classroom. Additionally, having more career counseling and guidance for students planning to transfer to four-year colleges would be helpful....
