In IGN's Halo Infinite walkthrough of The Sequence, you'll find strategies for completing the mission on Legendary, and more. This is the ninth main mission in Halo Infinite.

There are no collectibles exclusive to this mission.

When you're ready to get started with the next main mission, enter the Pelican.

Enter the Command Spire

After you're dropped off, we need to head to the Command Spire. Luckily, it's not that far off. Unluckily, there are some Banished enemies to take out before we can get there. Straight ahead there's a small group of Banished, led by an Elite. There are some blast coils you can use to jumpstart the fight in your favor.

In this area, there are two Elites to look out for. If you're low on ammo after that last boss fight, there are weapon racks near the blast coils you can use to restock. And remember, blast coils are a huge help in taking out strong enemies like Elites. Once everyone is taken care of, unlock the door to the Command Spire at the terminal.

Reconstruct the Forerunner Sequence

As you probably could have guessed, using the terminal didn't work. Classic. And now, there are four different beacons we need to head to so we can reconstruct the Forerunner Sequence and enter the Command Spire. But, before we can get started on that, we need to get across this bridge that has a ton of Banished waiting for Chief on the other side.

As you approach the bridge, you'll see a Hydra sitting there just begging for you to take. Shortly after, two Banshees will fly over the Bridge. You can use this newly found Hydra to take them out before worrying about everything else waiting on the other side of this bridge. Don't forget, the Hydra has a lock-on mode you can use by hitting LT (or whatever your Zoom action is assigned to) to make taking the Banshees out of the sky a breeze.

If you're feeling brave, you can try to cross the bridge and fight. There are Jackal snipers, Brutes, Elites, and Grunts over here you'll have to contend with. Stock up on the safe side of the bridge first. There's a Skewer, Needlers, and other helpful weapons. But you can also just skip the path entirely. Skipping them now doesn't mean you have to take them out later, because when we return to this area later in this mission, it'll be an entirely new combat sequence to deal with.

Legendary Strategy Tip: Once you're able to approach the bridge, you'll be attacked by all manner of Banished who are posted up on the other side. Hang back across the bridge. Near the bridge are weapons racks in Banished crates with Disruptors, a skewer, and plenty of other gear. Use these to take out the Banshees that spawn. Then, if you don't want to dive into snipers, Brutes, Elites, and the other Banished, you can use the Grappleshot to take a path behind their structures just to the right of the bridge. You'll still get to take out some Banished, but this relatively safe path will keep you from being overwhelmed. You can also try to go left, but you might be more exposed.

Retrieve Sequence Data

Once you've escaped the bridge combat encounter, whether it was through fighting or avoiding it, you can start with the bulk of this mission. There are four Beacons we need to get to, and each beacon is paired with a FOB that acts as a good starting point.

advertisem*nt

  1. Eastern Beacon: FOB November
  2. Southern Beacon: FOB Kilo
  3. Northern Beacon: FOB Juliet
  4. Southwestern Beacon: FOB Hotel

If you don't have these FOBs yet, you may want to consider getting them. If you want to just go on without them, you can, but it's more of a pain without the ability to summon vehicles.

Legendary Strategy Tip: One of the easiest ways to get to the eastern beacon is by claming FOB November, calling in a Wasp (or, if you're lucky, steal a Banshee), then fly quietly around the cliffside to the back of the structure. Here you'll find a rocket launcher and a Battle Rifle and no enemies. You'll encounter several Brutes snipers with Overshields, Jackals, and Grunts just around the corner near the control panel, though. You'll still get a fight, but it won't be quite as exhausting. You can continue this backdoor strategy with the other Beacons, though the two western Beacon's don't quite offer the same option for approach. You'll still benefit from bringing in big guns, though. If you haven't invested some time in taking back the Ring and increasing your Valor, now's a great time to do that. Get enough to at least summon Scorpion tanks and Wasps. They're both incredibly useful for some of the tougher fights on this island.

Or, if you don't want to spend the time taking over FOBs and earning Valor, there's another trick that makes this mission way easier to accomplish on the harder difficulties. Hotel FOB is the key to this mission. You can find it on your map in the southern area, very close to two of the beacons that we need to take over to progress in the campaign. Your first item of business should be to take over this FOB. If you do so, it'll be the only FOB you need to take to make the rest of this mission way easier.

Once you take it over, head down the hill towards the cliffs at the edge of this FOB. You should see two Banshees, ready for you to take whenever you want! The best way to approach three out of four of these beacons is to fly a vehicle around to the back, and these Banshees are a free, easy way to do that. With fast travel unlocked, you can warp back here to Hotel FOB after each beacon to grab a fresh Banshee and head to the next Beacon. Besides that, there are also weapon racks with Snipers, Manglers, Energy Swords, Plasma Grenades, and more!

The closest beacon is the eastern beacon, so we'll start there. If you have enough valor to summon in a vehicle, you'll want control of FOB November. If not, you can just go to Hotel FOB and grab a Banshee and fly to the base.

Set a waypoint to the eastern beacon, and start flying there. The only thing to be wary of is Banished at other outposts that may try to stun your Banshee while it's in the sky. To work around this, stay high in the air and use the Banshee's boost power to quickly evade any Banished you pass along the way.

Once you're in sight of the beacon, fly around to the backside of the structure. Land on the ground behind the structure, and hop out of the Banshee. Here, you can grab a Rocket Launcher and Battle Rifle, and head up the ramp to the top of the structure.

For most of the beacons, this will be the strategy. You can use the ramp as a shield, as the Banished don't really like to climb it. There are plenty of good vantage points to take to eliminate most of the enemies from up here. Once everyone is defeated with this strategy, the Weapon will tell you it's safe to head to the front door of the structure and unlock the door. Head down into the structure to start reconstructing the sequence.

Banished - Archeological Findings 02 - Assumptions

After you head down the ramp inside the beacon, you’ll find this audio log leaning up against the wall to the right before you go through the door.

If you don't want to take a FOB, you can just charge head on into the base. It'll be a long fight working your way up the hill, against all types of Banished, which is why the Banshee is really your best bet, to give yourself the high ground right away.

After you reconstruct this part of the sequence, you can warp back to FOB Hotel to grab another Banshee to fly to the next beacon. The beacon we just took over is by far the furthest one away from FOB Hotel, so it won't be as long of a trek the next couple times.

Northern Beacon

With one beacon taken care of, next we are going to head to the northern beacon. When flying here, either with your own vehicle summoned at a FOB or the Banshee from FOB Hotel, once again try and stay high in the air to avoid the plasma snipers who will try to stop you. Like last time, we are going to land the Banshee on the backside of the building. When you land in the back, look out for Skimmers on the right side of the building.

Here, a similar strategy will work. Head up the ramp into the structure, and make it home base. Make sure to use the the sightlines on the ramps when you are ready to attack. Up top, you'll find a Spartan Core and a weapon rack with Shock Rifles and Manglers. The Shock Rifle is a great weapon for this strategy, as it is effective against the Skimmers and can scope to see far away enemies. Speaking of the Skimmers, watch out for them, and be sure to take them out quickly, because they can snipe you!

Most Banished once again won't come up the ramp to hurt you, with the exception of the occasional Skimmer, so keep an eye on both the left and right sides of this structure. Skimmers coming up the ramp can be a good thing, because after you take them out you can refill the ammo in your Shock Rifle and keep sniping enemies.

Down below, there are a couple Ghosts patrolling the area, being piloted by Elites. The Ghosts are tough to take out, but when we played on Heroic difficulty, it seems the Elites got frustrated with Chief taking camp up in the structure, and they jumped out of the Ghosts to try and take him out with their weapons. When that happens, you can use your Shock Rifle to take them out.

Stay up here until all the Banished are defeated. There's plenty of room to take cover if you find yourself under fire, making the structure a great place to hang out for this fight.

Once everyone is defeated, head down and open the building at the terminal with the Weapon. Head inside and proceed through the hallways towards the terminal.

As you near the terminal for the code fragment, you'll find this audio log.

Once you've reconstructed this part of the sequence, it's time to wash, rinse, and repeat. Head back to Hotel FOB for a Banshee, or travel to any FOB to grab a Wasp if you can. Up next, we're heading to the southern beacon to the south.

Southern Beacon

Two beacons down, two to go. Let's use the same strategy to fly around the back of the southern beacon, as usual. As you begin your descent to the back of the structure, watch out below, because there are two Wraiths that have the ability to stun your Banshee midair. When you get to the backside of the structure, there is a Spartan Core underneath as well as a Battle Rifle. The Battle Rifle is a great weapon for this fight, because as you know by now, we'll be spending a lot of time at the top of the ramp.

Grapple your way up to the top of the structure on the backside. There are two armored brutes guarding the front of this platform. Use the wall as cover and take them out. You can use the BR to blast their helmets off, before taking them out with some well placed headshots. Once they're gone, the platform is yours! There is a Hydra here you can use to take out the Wraiths below. Our experience here was a little different than the last two beacons, as Jackals and Grunts tried to sneak up on the platform behind us, so be a little more diligent in checking around the structure while you eliminate the foes below.

There are also Elites at this fight that you should be able to take out from the safety of the structure. The main threat you'll face up here is the tanks. Keep a sharp ear out for when the Wraith tanks fire shots at you. The shots take a while to reach the structure, so when you hear it, you have time to duck behind the wall to take cover before the blast hits. Use the Battle Rifle, the Hydra, and whatever else you have to take everyone out from here.

Once it's clear, open the door below at the Terminal and head inside.

Banished - Archeological Findings 03 - Xalanyn

Before you reach the first inner door in the beacon, you'll find another Banished audio log.

Continue through the tunnel and access the terminal to collect this part of the key. After this part of the Forerunner sequence is reconstructed, there's only one more to go! You may be thinking it's time to head back to FOB Hotel for another Banshee, but we'll actually take a different strategy for the final beacon...

Southwestern Beacon

To prepare for this fourth and final beacon, we still want to head back to FOB Hotel, since it's the one closest to the Southwestern beacon, which is all we have left. However, instead of grabbing a Banshee and flying to the next area, you'll want to grab a Warthog (or a Scorpion, if you have enough Valor to afford it) and load it up with the UNSC Marines at this FOB. Also, bring a weapon, like a Skewer, that will allow you to take Banshees out of the sky. The other weapon you bring should be something like a Battle Rifle or other mid- to long-range weapon you can use to take out large amounts of enemies at a distance.

For this beacon, heading to the back is actually a bad idea. Two Hunters guard the entrance to the final structure, and it's best to keep our distance until they are the last thing we need to take out.

With your loaded up Warthog, approach this final structure from the front on the road. There are two Banshees patrolling this area. Take them out with your Skewer or other strong weapon before getting too close to the action.

There are all sorts of Banished here that we need to take care of. Keep your distance, using the natural terrain as cover when you need it. Use your Battle Rifle (or other weapon) to take out the Grunts, Brutes, and Jackals waiting for you further down this area.

Wait until most enemies are taken out until you proceed closer to the structure. Because, when you do, a Banished ship will appear filled with reinforcements. If you still have ammo, you can use your Skewer to try and blow up the ship as it flies in. If you can't be prepared to deal with plenty of Elites. Once you get close enough to the structure to trigger the Elite dropship, quickly retreat back to the hill we were fighting on earlier. Here, the Elites will probably approach you, but the Hunters will likely stay put. This lets you deal with the Elites without having to worry about the Hunters.

It's tough to traverse into this area without getting exposed, so you may have to hang back and use the Battle Rifle to deal as much damage to the Elites as possible. You can risk it and run for one of their weapons after you defeat a few of them, but it's safer to hang back and rely on your weapons, the Warthog turret, and your Marine buddies to help take them out.

Once the Elites are taken care of, you can move in and try to take out the pair of Hunters. There's a weapon rack on the left side of the structure with a Shock Rifle. There should also be some Stalker Rifles on top of the Structure. To the right of the structure, there's a Rocket Launcher sitting close to the wall of the area, next to a fallen UNSC soldier. This is helpful in taking out the Hunters.

If you want to force a checkpoint, drive far away from the Hunters until you see a checkpoint save. This will make it so you don't have to deal with the first two phases of this fight again. And, as is always the case with Hunters, have your Grappleshot equipped so you can quickly get away from the Hunters if you're in a risky situation.

Once the Hunters are gone, enter the structure and head down the ramp, then circle around through the hallways to continue.

As you are moving to the terminal, you’ll find this audio log leaning up against the wall.

Continue and finish reconstructing the Forerunner sequence. After the fourth beacon, it's time to head back to the Command Spire!

Enter the Command Spire

Remember that bridge from the start of this mission? It's time to head back there. But this time, we can get a leg up on the Banished. Head to any nearby FOB and grab a Warthog loaded up with Marines. Approach the bridge from the western side, and get ready for a fight. Park the Warthog on the edge of the area, using the natural terrain and rocks as cover for this first wave.

From a distance, take out this first wave of enemies. There will be Brutes, Jackal snipers, and Skimmers. If you have a full ammo BR from a nearby FOB, you should be able to take everything out from here pretty safely.

Once it's clear, head to the tower outpost on the right. There's a switch that lowers the barrier in the tower. You can also take out any remaining stragglers in this area from here. Be careful, a few enemies, like Jackals and Grunts, may try to sneak up behind you while you're on this tower.

After you've lowered the barrier, head down the hill to the right edge of this area. There's an Elite accompanied by a few Grunts and a Jackal. You should take them all out now so they don't flank you later when you head back towards the middle.

At this point, there are probably a few more Banished left on the far left side of this area. You need to clear all the enemies to open up the bridge. Before you start making your way over to the left side, you can completely refill your BR or other gun with the kinetic ammo refiller. There's also a Skewer on this side of the map you should grab for what's coming. Be ready, because when you head back to the middle of this area, things are about to get real.

When you're heading over to the left side of the area, reinforcement Hunters will drop from the sky. Stay calm, because there's some serious help waiting for you in the building on the left side. But first, we need to take out the two Brutes waiting inside the room.

Sneak inside and grab a blast coil on the ground. Throw it at the Brute on the right and pound him with headshots until he is down. You should be able to kill this Brute before the other one gets to you. Once both Brutes are down, there's also a Grunt in here to take care of. You can refill your kinetic ammo in here and grab a Gravity Hammer! Now, you should have a Gravity Hammer and a Skewer. Make sure you have your Grappleshot equipped.

The Gravity Hammer does serious damage to the Hunters, and if you're quick, you can get some hits in with it before Grappleshotting away. Use a combination of hammer strikes, and Skewer shots to take out the Hunters. There are plenty of places to duck and hide from the Hunters, but be careful, because they will pursue you.

advertisem*nt

Once the Hunters are taken care of, head back to the building where you grabbed the Gravity Hammer to activate the bridge.

Legendary Strategy Tip: When you're ready to return to the Spire, be sure to load up a Warthog with Marines to help you take back the area. Once you've cleared the first wave and unlocked the bridge, take a Scorpion with you (slowly) across and wait for the Banished ship. Then, shoot it down and use the tank to make quick work of the remaining enemies.

On the other side of the bridge, a ship will drop off a handful of Elites. Two of them can turn invisible and take you out with their Energy Swords. If you don't have a Scorpion at your FOB as seen in the tip above, there's another strategy to try. Before crossing the bridge, head back to the start of this area and grab your Warthog. Park your warthog in the middle of the bridge and use the Skewer ammo you have leftover to take out some of the Elites waiting for you. Then, switch to your BR and shoot from this location for a while, using your Warthog as cover. If you have to make a break for weapons, there is a rack on the left side with Pulse Carbines and a few other options, but your best bet is to backtrack to the last area to find weapons so the invisible Elites don't sneak up on you. Don't forget to use the pulse radar to see where the invisible enemies are hiding. There are also plenty of coils in this area you can shoot to try and deal some damage to the Elites.

When it's all clear, head forward to the Command Spire. Scope out this area and restock with anything you'll want for the mission ahead, because once you enter the Spire, the next mission starts immediately. Open two gates with the Weapon to proceed and complete the mission!

Legendary Difficulty Note: The ball starts rolling fast after this in the campaign missions. At this point, it's highly recommended you return to the open world and start gathering Spartan Cores. Check out our guide for their locations. You'll need to have upgraded your Thruster and Shields complete. The other three should at least have one to a few points in them (though we don't know why you wouldn't have the excellent Grappleshot upgraded yet). Not having these upgraded will mean a much more difficult fight later on.
