Marci (Lippert) Scheuingenters her 11th season as the head field hockey coach at Kutztown University in 2024.

Scheuing led Kutztown to its best season in program history in 2023, finishing 19-3 overall and 7-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, winning the program and university's first NCAA team championship, knocking off defending champion East Stroudsburg 2-1 in the championship game on Nov. 19, 2023. KU's 19 wins is a new program record and it also set a new record for shutouts in a season with 14.

Scheuinghas built the Golden Bears into a perennial contender at the conference and national levels, while also boasting one of the top academic teams in the country.

Kutztown had one of its best seasons in program history in 2022 with a 16-3 overall record (8-1 PSAC). Scheuingled KU to its first-ever No. 1 ranking in the NFHCA Division II Poll. KU won five games against nationally ranked opponents and finished atop the conference at the conclusion of the regular season to take the No. 1 seed into the PSAC Championship tournament. Scheuing was voted PSAC Coach of the Year for the second time in her career.

The 2019 Golden Bears made it to the NCAA Division II national semifinals after defeating Southern New Hampshire in the opening round for their third NCAA postseason victory all-time, first since 1988. The Maroon and Gold also advanced to the PSAC championship game for the first time since 1988 with a stunning upset of top-ranked and previously unbeaten West Chester in the semifinals. Backed by its fifth straight double-digit win season, Kutztown finished the 2019 season ranked No. 4 in the final National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Poll.

Scheuing guided the 2018 team to a 14-5 record, marking the program's winningest campaign since 2007. It came in a historic year for KU field hockey, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary season. The Bears put together win streaks of eight and five games during the regular season, qualified for their second PSAC Championship tournament under Scheuing and held down a spot in the national rankings for nine consecutive weeks. Kutztown ultimately secured a ninth-place ranking in the final national poll.

Scheuing was recognized by her peers as PSAC Coach of the Year for the first time and claimed her first of two KU Women's Coach of the Year awards (2019-20) after a successful campaign in 2015. KU won 12 games, including eight in a row, for its second-longest run of success since 2008. The Golden Bears ranked as high as fourth in the NFHCA DII Poll and hosted the first home playoff game in program history.

A 3-2 victory at then-second-ranked West Chester on Oct. 13, signified KU's first win over a second-ranked team in Division II since 2004 and first win over West Chester since WCU's program reclassified as Division II in 2011. Kutztown has only gone to greater heights under Scheuing in recent seasons, posting four wins over No. 1 ranked teams since 2017, including a pair in 2019.

In 2014, Kutztown knocked off Bloomsburg twice in a season for the first time since 1983, which included a double overtime road victory on a penalty stroke goal.

Scheuing's KU teams have been in postseason contention in each of her previous nine seasons. She has coached 20 All-Americans, 42All-PSAC selections, 2015 PSAC Athlete of the Year Anna Behm,2018 PSAC Freshman of the Year Rachel Dusman and 2023 PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Year Sarah Gatehouse.

Dedication to excellence is a standard of Scheuing's on and off the field. Kutztown has continually embodied the student-athlete mantra during her tenure, with the program receiving NFHCA National Academic Team awards each of her nine years and posting Division II's top team GPA with a 3.54 in 2015. Scheuing's players have been honored on the NFHCA National Academic Squad(3.3 GPA or higher) 127 times to go along with 39NFHCA Scholars of Distinction (3.9 GPA or higher). The program set a new record with 24PSAC Scholar-Athletes in 2021.

Scheuing arrived at Kutztown following three years as the head field hockey coach and a faculty lecturer at Bryn Mawr College. She led the 2012 Owls to their best season since 1998, and was named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year. The 2012 team scored 43 goals, more than the program had accounted for in its previous six seasons combined. Bryn Mawr also exceeded its combined five-year win total. Scheuing guided two all-conference honorees, giving the program multiple selections in the same season for the first time in 13 years. All three Owl teams she coached earned NFHCA National Academic Team status.

Scheuing's three-year run at Bryn Mawr was preceded by a similar stint at Cedar Crest College, where she served as head field hockey coach and sports information director. A redefined culture and substantial on-field improvement led to Scheuing being named the 2009 Colonial State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. She coached six All-CSAC selections and saw all three of her squads lauded as NFHCA National Academic Teams. Cedar Crest was also tabbed the 2008 CSAC Sportsmanship Team of the Year.

Scheuing played collegiate field hockey at Mansfield University, where she was a member of two nationally-ranked teams, including the Mounties' ECAC Championship team in 2001. A midfielder and defender, she was named the team's most improved player in 2002 and served as team captain in 2004. Following the 2004 season, she claimed a spot on the Division II Senior All-Star Team.

Scheuing is currently in her ninth season as a coach for Reading-based High Styx Field Hockey Club. She previously spent seven seasons coaching at the United Field Hockey Club in Downingtown and began her coaching career in 2006 at Garden Spot High School in New Holland. Scheuing received her level one coaching certification through USA Field Hockey.

A 2005 Mansfield graduate, Scheuing earned her Bachelor of Science in mass communications with an emphasis in public relations and was recognized as a Presidential Scholar Athlete. She went on to complete her Master of Education in athletic administration at Millersville University in 2008. Scheuing is a Berks County native, having grown up in nearby Douglassville and is a local product of the former St. Pius X High School. In December of 2022, Scheuing finished her second masters degree at California University of PA with a MS in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a concentration of Sports Psychology.

Scheuing and her husband, Matt, reside in Sinking Spring and have two daughters, Reagan and McKinley. Matt is a United States history teacher at Penn Manor High School and the pitching coach for the Franklin & Marshall College baseball team.
