The Child Care Training program at Florida State College at Jacksonville, is here to help you with your Department of Children and Families (DCF) training requirements. We provide child care personnel with the tools necessary to ensure quality care in early childhood education programs. To accomplish this task, the DCF mandates minimum introductory training requirements along with annual continuing education for professional development. After completing the state mandated hours, you may choose to complete the requirements for a State of Florida Staff credential, graduates seek employment in private and public child care centers; in classroom settings such as pre-kindergarten, Head Start centers, kindergarten, early grades in elementary schools, and private nursery schools and preschools in home settings working with students and their families in Early Head Start, family and group child care homes, and in private household child care. If your goal is to advance to become childcare center director, you will need to continue with the Child Care Center Operations program. Once you complete this program, you will qualify for the Florida Director’s Credential.
